Sportsman’s Guide’s web sales grow 33% in quarter
Web-based sales at The Sportsman`s Guide Inc. reached $13.9 million in the quarter that ended June 30, up 33% from $10.44 million in the same quarter a year ago, the company reports. Total sales at the South St. Paul, MN-based bargain retailer of outdoor equipment rose 9.2% to $38 million.
The web now accounts for 36.5% of sales at Sportsman’s Guide, up from 30% in the same quarter a year ago. "Our strong second quarter results were due in large part to increasing Internet-related sales,” said Gregory R. Binkley, president and CEO. “This is an all time record with respect to Internet-related sales as a percentage of total sales."
Net earnings reached $646,000, more than double the $317,000 from a year ago.
Total catalog circulation for the quarter was 9.2 million, compared to 8.8 million for the same period in 2002.
