ToysRUs.com`s Q3 sales rise 12% year-over-year

Sales at ToysRUs.com rose 11.6% year-over-year to $67 million from $60 million for the third quarter ended Oct. 30 after excluding ToysRUs.com Japan, which the company sold in Q3 of last year, the retailer reported today.

For the nine months ended Oct. 30, sales rose 8.2% to $171 million from $158 million excluding ToysRUs.com Japan. When figures for the Japan unit are included, year-over-year sales rose 1.5% in Q3 and declined 1.7% for the nine months.

Q3 operating loss of $6 million reflected a slight improvement over a year ago; for the nine months, operating loss narrowed 35% to $15 million from $23 million a year ago. Operating loss figures include ToysRUs.com Japan.

Companywide Q3 net sales declined 1.4% year-over-year to $2.21 billion from $2.25 billion, and total net sales for the nine months declined 2.6% to $6.29 billion from $6.46 billion. Comparable store sales declined 1.7% in Q3 and 5% for the nine months.
