Though tiny compared to the leading online diamond retailers, publicly owned Abazias.com is reporting strong growth with a 73% year-to-year jump in sales to $617,000 for the third quarter ended Sept. 30. Sales for the first three quarters are up 32%, it says.
Abazias, which launched a redesigned web site Oct. 30 to accommodate more products and information, operates with a database of more than 60,000 diamonds.
CEO Oscar Rodriquez attributes growth partly to exposure on ShopEtc.com and other media outlets.
In comparison, BlueNile.com, No. 54 in Internet Retailer’sTop 300 Guide to online retailers, had 2003 sales of $128.9 million, and Diamond.com, No. 91 in the Top 300 Guide, had 2003 sales of $50 million.
