NEW DHL USA WEB SITE OFFERS CUSTOMERS ADVANCED ONLINE SHIPPING EXPERIENCE

DHL Customers Drive Enhancements; New Site Includes Dedicated Online Resource Center for Small Businesses

PLANTATION, FL – May 9, 2005 / DHL, the world’s leading global express delivery and logistics company, today announced the launch of its newly redesigned DHL USA web site (www.dhl-usa.com). The new site, which was developed in collaboration with customers, combines enhanced functionality with a host of new features to provide DHL customers of all sizes with the most convenient, speedy and easy-to-use online shipping experience.

“The new dhl-usa.com is a reflection of DHL’s commitment to provide the most customer-friendly shipping experience in the market,” said John Pearson, executive vice president, commercial, for DHL. “We listened to customers of all sizes, but particularly small and medium-sized business owners, and worked with them to develop an online platform that provides seamless access to the full range of DHL express shipping and logistics services with even greater ease and fewer clicks.”

Extensive customer research involving both domestic and international online shippers provided DHL with critical input on customer needs, priorities and preferences, as well as insight into their ideal online shipping experience. DHL customers were involved throughout the development process, including live tests of a number of prototype designs and functionalities. The result is an intuitive, task-oriented, customer-friendly web site; offering clutter-free site organization, enhanced navigation, and rapid access to functions most frequently used by customers, such as shipping and pick-up requests, package tracking and rate estimates, right from the home page.

“Collaborating closely with our customers , DHL has developed a sophisticated, user-friendly web site that supports our customers’ continuously evolving needs,” said Mike Heilman, vice president, eCommerce and customer technologies, for DHL. “Customer service is the number one priority in our business, and it will continue to drive future design enhancements to our web site and the development of new technology solutions across the DHL organization.”

Additional Features

With prominent help tips and quick reference material located throughout the site, DHL’s online shipping and tracking tools are designed to facilitate the transactional process and maximize the convenience of customers’ online shipping experience. In addition, the new DHL USA website offers resource centers so that customers can access easy, quick reference guides to full product and service information effortlessly.

To simplify the customer experience, DHL created a simple online registration process to generate online profiles, which customers can use to ship via the DHL USA web site using a credit card without needing to generate a DHL shipping account number. Registered users will now also benefit from enhanced personalization and customization of their home page after log in, including an online “address book” with frequently used shipping addresses. DHL shipping accounts can also be created online, using a new account set-up wizard.

Other benefits of the new DHL USA web site include:
• An updated shipment preparation screen, including a new drop box locator tool, and the ability to schedule a pick up
• Ability to differentiate between business and residential shipments, providing customers with more accurate rate estimates
• Access to information on specific rates and services available for each U.S. ZIP code.

DHL’s New Small Business Resource Center

The new site also includes a DHL Small Business Resource Center – a resource for small and medium-sized businesses to gather peer-to-peer knowledge, as well as access online tools, reference guides and special offers.

The DHL Small Business Resource Center serves as a database for knowledge sharing regarding best practices and other topics of interest to small and medium-sized business owners in support of their day-to-day business needs. The Resource Center will also highlight DHL small business customers that have excelled in their respective industries, providing case studies on specific DHL shipping and logistics solutions successfully implemented with small businesses nationwide. Each month, the DHL Small Business Resource Center will focus on a new practice area, with information on the issues that are most important to the fast-growing small business community in the U.S.

DHL will also showcase shipping tips to help customers make informed shipping decisions by offering relevant information and expert opinions, including information for small business customers on DHL’s online shipping services, setting up a DHL account, payment options, tracking, and billing and invoicing, loyalty and referral programs, and DHL product and partner promotions.
