With new fitting technology, shoppers try on at Levis.com, buy at Kohls.com

Apparel manufacturer Levi Strauss & Co. and department store chain Kohl’s Corp. are collaborating to install the My Virtual Model Inc. online clothes-fitting technology on their web sites, the companies announced.

Under the agreement between the two, customers can create their models at Levis.com and try on some clothes. If they want to click to buy, they will be directed to Kohls.com. At the same time, Levis will be the only apparel at Kohls.com that customers will be able to virtually fit. “It makes sense because Levis is the garment manufacturer and Kohl’s is the seller,” says Louise Guay, president of Montreal-based My Virtual Model.

With the My Virtual Model technology, shoppers can create 3-D likenesses of themselves by providing their various measurements and approximations of their body types. In addition to a virtual likeness, the Virtual Model Dressing Room provides size suggestions with fit ratings--from snug to loose--for each garment.

"The Levi`s brand has long used the Internet to reach consumers in innovative and compelling ways," says Patrice Varni, director of digital business and consumer relations at Levi. "In partnering with Kohl`s Department Stores and My Virtual Model Inc. we`re able to bring our online shoppers real value--the ability to find and buy their perfect style and size of Levi`s jeans online."

My Virtual Model’s other clients include Microsoft Network, Lands` End, Home Shopping Network, Kenneth Cole, WeddingChannel.com and NutriSystem.
