Endeca lands two new customers for its search technology

The market for site-search technology is very competitive and vendors rarely miss an opportunity to trumpet customer wins. Endeca Technologies Inc. announcement today at the eTail 2003 East conference that it had landed two new customers for its InFront with Guided Navigation product: Lenox Inc.’s Lenox.com and Brookstone Inc.’s Brookstone.com. In the battle to score points over the competition, Endeca even reported in the Lenox announcement that Lenox had switched from EasyAsk Inc. to Endeca.

"Our objective in launching the new version of Lenox.com is to enable our consumers to experience the breadth of our brand and product offering on their own terms. Search is a critical enabling factor, allowing site visitors to accomplish their objectives," said Ken Bausch, vice president of interactive and database marketing for Lenox. "Our new site will establish a comprehensive online presence for the Lenox brand, combining the functionality of three previous sites. The greater complexity of the new Lenox.com required a new approach to search, and we chose Endeca because of the proven power and functionality of Guided Navigation."

Brookstone redesigned its site using Fry Inc. technology, which includes the Endeca search function. "Our product offering continues to grow and evolve and as a result, we know it can be challenging for our customers to quickly find the perfect product on our site. This is why the Guided Navigation solution recommended by Fry made so much sense," said Greg Sweeney, VP/GM Direct Marketing for Brookstone. Sweeney also reported that Brookstone experienced an increase in conversion rates with the new site. “We saw it in a period when we were driving more traffic to our site, during which conversion rates typically decline a bit,” he said.
