eBay leads in online traffic for apparel and beauty products, study says
EBay.com led all retail web sites in number of unique visitors for apparel and beauty products, including jewelry, for the week ending Aug. 3, Nielsen/NetRatings reports. Of the top five destinations, Nielsen cited eBay for the top two. EBay placed first with its section on clothing, shoes and accessories, hosting 1.95 million visitors, and it placed second with its section on jewelry and watches, hosting 646,000 visitors, for a total of 2.6 million visitors. Next were Old Navy, with 614,000 visitors; Victoria’s Secret, 359,000; and The Gap, 316,000.
In online advertising of consumer goods for the same week, the personal care category garnered the most impressions with 395.5 million Nielsen also reports. The top 9 categories in ad impressions were:

Toy and hobby, 42,767,000

Nielsen said another 22,176,000 ad impressions fell under no particular category.
