Dallas, Texas - December 11, 2001 - EXE Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: EXEE), a leading supply chain execution (SCE) solutions provider, announced today the promotion of Chris Stephenson to Chief Product Officer (CPO). Reporting directly to Chief Technology Officer Richard Lackey, Stephenson will apply his 30 years of international SCE experience to meet current and emerging trends in global and domestic supply chains. In his newly created role, Stephenson will be responsible for driving EXE`s SCE product strategy.

Since joining EXE in August 1995, Stephenson has played a critical leadership function in driving the company`s product management team to deliver new functionality. Initially serving as Managing Director Asia, Stephenson was named EXE`s vice president of research and development in 1998 and vice president product management in 1999.

"Dedicating a senior executive such as Chris to focus on the strategic planning of our products and services offerings will surpass the changing expectations of customers and solidify our leadership position in the SCE market," said Ken Powell, president and chief operating officer at EXE Technologies. "Chris has decades of relevant experience to confidently direct and shape our comprehensive product strategy for the aggressive expansion of EXE`s SCE competitive footprint."

In this position, Stephenson will be responsible for ensuring that various EXE supply chain execution products are aligned to meet the pertinent needs of the SCE market and the specific needs of targeted industry verticals. Additionally, Stephenson will play a vital role in the identification and evaluation of merger, acquisition, and alliance opportunities to increase EXE`s product and solution set.

"Rapid market changes driven by Internet technologies and increased collaboration among supply chain partners have exposed the shortcomings of traditional supply chain execution products," said Richard Lackey, chief technology officer. "EXE will continue to lead in the supply chain arena by understanding and delivering on new solutions that solve tough problems. Chris` promotion will benefit customers as he drives technology to interconnect supply chains within and outside the four walls of corporations."

Prior to joining EXE Technologies, Stephenson worked at Davids Holdings Pty Ltd, Australia`s largest wholesaler, as group general manager logistics where he was responsible for 20 distribution centers and over two thousand permanent staff. In this capacity Stephenson`s team implemented the Dallas Systems Mainframe WMS product. Stephenson started his career in retail management with Australia`s largest supermarket and discount department store operator. He progressed through roles as Store Manager, Area Manager, State Administration Manager (with responsibility for Logistics), National Supermarket Division Planning Manager, and Corporate Planning Manager.
