AS2 Comm Link Software is Pre-configured to Enable Transactions with the Largest Retailers in the World
GAITHERSBURG, Md.--May 21, 2003--Global eXchange Services, Inc. (GXS) today announced the availability of a suite of AS2 Comm Link software solutions for suppliers of all sizes.
This new offering complements the existing GXS AS2 offerings including AS2 Outsourcing and AS2 Enterprise Systems software. The expanded GXS portfolio includes AS2 software that is pre-configured to interoperate with a number of EDI translators and is available for a wide variety of AS2 Trading Partners, allowing for a quick and easy AS2 implementation.
Whether using AS2 via the Internet or the GXS network, the AS2 Comm Link enables suppliers to connect quickly and easily connect with their trading partners in a real-time environment. Leveraging GXS` expertise in Internet-based transactions, security, scalability and reliability, AS2 Comm Links are ideal for suppliers of all sizes who need to communicate using AS2 with their retail customers. AS2 has been widely adopted by the retail industry to take cost out of the supply chain. Other industries are also considering the use of AS2 to exchange EDI or XML e-commerce messages over the Internet or via the transaction services network.
The AS2 standard combines the traditional benefits of electronic data interchange (EDI) to smaller companies, while reducing costs of online transactions for larger enterprises. GXS offers pre-configured AS2 Trading Partners designed for companies that want to trade with companies including: Wal*Mart, Food Lion, Wells Fargo, Proctor & Gamble, U.S. Army/Air Force (AAFES) and others. For ease of customer use, the pre-configured Trading Partners have been formatted with all of the technical information of the trading partner to get you up and running as easily and quickly.
"While not all retailers issued a mandate or a deadline for using AS2, most manufacturers will adopt AS2 primarily to satisfy their largest customers, with cost savings being an extra bonus," said AMR Research analyst Kimberly Knickle in the April 2003 report: Here It Comes: Embrace Internet-Based EDI With AS2. "Frequently used EDI documents, such as POs, acknowledgements, ASNs, and invoices, are the target for the first phase of AS2 implementation."
"The availability of an AS2 Comm Link for our various applications gives us a well-rounded portfolio and enables us to reach 100% of the various AS2 community participants," said Jim Rogers, GXS VP of Integration Solutions. "In addition to supporting Internet-based data exchange standards and the associated cost savings for the suppliers and trading partners, the entire spectrum of suppliers, from the smallest to the largest, now have an AS2 option to meet their trading partners` requirements."
