Rich Media Shop Helps Hollywood Eyewear Designer Cash-in On "Matrix Reloaded"

New York, NY - 5/28/03 -Glow Interactive`s recent launch of The Blinde Design Project, http://www.blinde.com, establishes a visually and functionally compelling eyewear brand consistent with the new film, "Matrix Reloaded." The site, designed using the latest in Rich Media technology, highlights the five authentic eyewear frames worn by the principal characters in the film and graphically captures the Matrix style in an online media and commerce experience.

For Glow, the challenge was to create a site that combined the identities of "Matrix Reloaded" and Blinde Design into a single user experience. Traditionally, e-commerce sites possess a strong disconnect between the identity/entertainment aspect, and the true functionality of a commerce experience. Utilizing the latest interactive technology, Glow developed a "single element" where entertainment integrates transparently into e-commerce, and ultimate stimulates purchase occasions.

With the new site, users can easily browse multiple styles and colors, find a local retailer of Blinde products, and purchase directly online from blinde.com. The site also incorporates a robust, unique Flash-based e-commerce system. Since its launch in conjunction with the May 15th release, the site has been solely responsible for an increase in sales due to an enormous amount of web traffic and the planned methodology of incorporating rich media into the commerce experience. The site was almost immediately awarded a "Favourite Website Award," in recognition for the latest and best in cutting edge design.

"What is so unique about this site is that we were able to create a total rich media environment that invites you to actually make a purchase," says Ted Kacandes, co-founder and lead creative developer for Glow. "By working completely in flash we bring users right through the entertainment experience into a commerce transaction."

Richard Walker, CEO of The Blinde Design Project, designed eyewear for all three "Matrix" films. Walker`s additional Hollywood design credits include "Charlie`s Angels" and "Tomb Raider". Walker has also designed frames worn by such celebrities as Madonna, Lenny Kravitz and Gwyenth Paltrow.

"Our main goal was to effectively translate the design aesthetic of Blinde`s Matrix line of eyewear into an online presence that captures the vibe of the film," said Walker. "Customers who are familiar with The Matrix will easily make the connection between the product and film, and those who are unfamiliar with the movie will be able to immediately identify with the product style."

The blinde.com site will be further expanded in the coming months to include the full range of Blinde Design eyewear products.
