PlanetRx Prescribes ePhysician Deal
PlanetRx.com Inc., a major Internet healthcare destination for commerce, content and community, has formed an alliance with ePhysician for PlanetRx.com to be an online prescription fulfillment option for patients and ePhysician users.
Mountain View, Calif.-based ePhysician claims to be the first and only provider of Palm-based, wireless, secure handheld medical devices for healthcare professionals. Physicians will be able to "instantly" transmit patients' prescriptions via ePhysician directly to the PlanetRx.com pharmacy. Patients will then receive their prescriptions directly through the mail.
All prescriptions sent to PlanetRx.com from ePhysician will include formulary reviews and drug interaction checking, and ePhysician's backend encryption capabilities also help guarantee patient security, the company says.
ePhysician will be the first Palm-based, handheld medical device company to send prescriptions directly to PlanetRx.com through the Internet. ePhysician will receive a transaction fee for each prescription sent to South San Francisco-based PlanetRx.com, creating a source of recurring revenue for the company.
