Unicru and Trax Retail Solutions Partner; Alliance Optimizes Workforce Selection Through Closed-Loop Analysis of Most-Effective Employees
NRF 93rd Annual Convention
Booth #835
PORTLAND, Ore. & NEW YORK--Jan. 12, 2004--Unicru and Trax Retail Solutions announced today a partnership to link the companys` state-of-the-art solutions to improve the business performance of retailers through selection of quality employees that rapidly become productive and are less prone to engage in counter-productive behavior leading to shrink.
The partnership will integrate Trax SmartStore, a suite of loss prevention and store operations control software and services for profit optimization with Unicru`s Total Workforce Acquisition solution, enabling performance insights gained from the Trax SmartStore suite to validate and refine predictions on the performance of job applicants made by the Unicru system in the hiring process.
The two companies have committed to cooperative marketing and sales programs, and will integrate data directly from Trax with Unicru`s employee assessment results to continually refine the workforce selection process, specifically highlighting those employees who are more likely to be highly productive.
According to the 2002 National Retail Security Survey, employee theft accounts for nearly half of all retail shrink, resulting in an annual loss of more than $15 billion. Said Chris Marsh, Unicru president and CEO, "We are dedicated to working with our customers to provide tools to help them prevent shrink before it happens. By partnering with Trax, we are able to provide proactive support for current occurrences and use the crucial information collected by the Trax system to help our customers improve future employee selection. Through this process, we will help retailers find those employees who are more likely to remain loyal to the company, thereby increasing revenue and competitive advantage."
The pairing of Unicru and Trax is a natural solution to preventing employee shrink as the 2003/2004 Supermarket Shrink Survey by The National Supermarket Research Group, found that pre-employment testing such as Unicru`s results in a 31 percent reduction in employee theft. "With some retail segments experiencing employee-related theft as high as 82 percent of their overall shrink, it is important that we provide smart technology that gives managers the tools required to make smart business decisions while rewarding exceptional employee behavior through our Cashier Excellence Program," said Ron Southard, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Trax Retail Solutions. "Given the growing nature of employee shrink, we are eager to show our mutual customers what is causing their shrink, how they are doing it, and help prevent them from hiring employees who display such counter-productive behaviors in the future."
How will it work?
With a combined Trax/Unicru system, job candidates will use the Unicru solution to complete an electronic job application and custom-designed assessment questions via an on-site employment center. Upon completion of the application and assessment, responses will immediately be transmitted to Unicru`s secure database where they will be processed and evaluated against criteria derived from successful employees. The hiring manager will use a Web desktop to review pre-hire summaries, including an easy-to-read completed application form and a candidate report recommending follow-up interview questions.
Once an employee is hired, the Unicru solution will automatically send the employee`s data to the Trax system that intelligently analyzes customer and other transaction log data to measure performance and detect patterns of employee theft. That data is then applied against a set of over 1,600 rules to indicate areas that have a high probability of suspect activity. Managers receive recommendations regarding corrective actions in an easy to use format. Employees in the first few weeks on the job are highlighted in a Time to Competency Score Card, identifying the low performers and high-risk associates from their first day on the job.
Insight gained on employee performance through Trax for a specific client will be integrated by Unicru with assessment, termination and other information to refine evaluation criteria used to select future employees likely to be productive and low risk. The next result of this "closed-loop" methodology will be continuous improvement to a retailer`s bottom line.
