Axfood Selects Sonic ESB to Integrate 1,300+ Retail Locations
One of Europe’s Largest Food Retailers Manages Growth, Improves Inventory Management with the First and Leading Enterprise Service Bus
NEW YORK, N.Y.; NRF Convention & Expo, Booth #2425 — January 12, 2004 — Sonic Software, the leader in distributed, standards-based integration, today announced Axfood AB, one of the largest European food wholesalers and retailers, has selected Sonic ESB™ (enterprise service bus) for enterprise-wide integration of its rapidly growing wholesale and retail operations.
Axfood has over 1,300 stores in Sweden and Finland, with consolidated sales of 3.7 billion EUR (4.6 billion USD). As a result of numerous mergers in recent years, Axfood has a very diverse IT infrastructure with many different solutions. Sonic ESB was selected to provide a common platform that allows the company to keep its existing solutions while adding on new components and removing legacy systems as needed, easing their migration to new systems and increasing business agility.
In a key aspect of Axfood`s integration initiative Sonic ESB was selected to coordinate the secure and reliable transmission of point-of-sales (POS) data from retail locations to a central data warehouse, enabling more efficient inventory management and business activity monitoring. Sonic`s standards-based integration platform will also be used to integrate the company`s network of wholesale suppliers and logistics operations. Through this effort Axfood plans to reduce its order fulfillment cycle by one third.
