Symbol Technologies Introduces In-Store Software-Based System to Enable Retailers to OfferPersonalized Service to Loyal Customers
NRF 93rd Annual Convention
HOLTSVILLE, N.Y.--Jan. 12, 2004--Symbol Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: SBL), The Enterprise Mobility Company(TM), today at the National Retail Federation trade show in New York introduced the Symbol Clientele 1:1 Solution Suite(TM), an in-store associate selling system for specialty and department store retailers. The software system, which operates on Symbol handheld computers and other devices, provides a robust set of tools to guide retail sales associates through proven best practices of effective one-to-one retail selling.
Using this system, sales associates coordinate sales activity, update client profiles, review purchase history, check sizes and measurements, track shopper preferences and wish list items, make purchase suggestions, monitor shopping frequency, plan follow-up calls, schedule appointments and send out-bound correspondence directly from a Symbol handheld computer. The system software also supports users with access to purchase and client information, sorted and organized for ease of use, as well as a full range of sales force automation tools to assure high levels of productivity. Additionally, the software supports ad hoc queries and reporting on data collected in the retail store.
"We developed a system to help retailers better serve their customers, who are often time-starved, but need to find and purchase what they are looking for as quickly and easily as possible, while also providing retailers with an opportunity to drive sales and increase shopper loyalty in the competitive retail marketplace," said Bryan Amaral, vice president, Symbol Technologies. "For example, if a shopper has a history of buying new spring clothes from a specific designer, using the Symbol Clientele 1:1 Suite, a store associate is able to automatically contact that shopper when the new spring line from their preferred designer has arrived, thus driving sales and shopper loyalty to that retailer."
The Symbol Clientele 1:1 Suite supports multiple deployment platforms including mClient(TM) for Symbol wireless handheld computers, eClient(TM) for browser-based devices and posClient(TM) for embedded applications on PC point-of-sale (POS) hardware devices. These are supported by an eSP 1:1, an intelligent rule-based engine that delivers real-time messaging. More than just collecting information, the Symbol Clientele 1:1 enables sales associates to improve the quality of service and customer satisfaction throughout the retail environment.
The Symbol Clientele 1:1 Solution Suite maintains a flexible deployment architecture that supports a myriad of options, from local server environments to Web-enabled centralized hosted implementations. The system is designed to co-exist with host-based CRM, loyalty and campaign management systems and custom in-store Web kiosk applications. A retailer can also customize the software user interface for the in-store sales team to provide a department-specific user experience by selling area.
