Ontario’s Largest Beer Retailer Taps Transactionware Enterprise for J2EE Retail Store System Solution Pilot Project

The Beer Store selects Triversity out of 10 vendors; solution includes Yantra’s store order and inventory management system

TORONTO – Jan. 12, 2004 – Triversity Inc., the leader in customer-centric retail solutions that enhance the Customer Experience and improve operating efficiencies, today announced that The Beer Store, Ontario’s largest beer retailer with 436 stores, has selected Transactionware Enterprise as the Retail Store System solution. To fulfill The Beer Store`s total requirements, Triversity is partnering with Yantra to leverage the company’s industry-leading store order and inventory management system.

The Beer Store selected Triversity after a thorough review of Retail Store System offerings from 10 companies. The Beer Store has committed to a five-store pilot that will begin in April 2004.

Brand selection has increased by 250 percent in the past decade, and The Beer Store offers a selection of over 900 packaging combinations of product. This growth, combined with a desire to introduce best-practice retail principles, requires a next-generation Retail Store System solution to fulfill that vision.

"After an exhaustive review, it became clear that Triversity’s Transactionware Enterprise was the ideal solution for us," said Glenn Wood, director of Information Services for The Beer Store. "We were locked in with our current system, and we couldn’t satisfy important business needs or introduce new functionality without massive and costly development. Triversity had the retail expertise, an experienced team, and the right technology for our next-generation Retail Store System." John Hynes, The Beer Store’s I.S. manager of Store and DC Systems added, "Another key element was the integration with Yantra’s solution that gives The Beer Store the ability to efficiently manage store level inventory and provide network-wide inventory visibility in real time."

"Transactionware Enterprise will enable The Beer Store to provide an increased level of customer service and provide a flexible foundation for a number of forward-thinking initiatives," said David Thomas, president and CEO of Triversity. "Transactionware Enterprise will also play a key role in streamlining operating efficiencies throughout The Beer Store’s retail enterprise."

"Yantra is excited to partner with Triversity to deliver a complete solution for The Beer Store," said Hunter Harris, Yantra’s vice president of Retail Market Development. "Our Retail Customer Order Management solution was the perfect complement to Triversity’s Transactionware Enterprise. The integrated store selling platform, leveraging J2EE native to both solutions, that combines sophisticated in-store inventory management with customer order capture capability integrates cross-channel operations, facilitates multi-channel sales and profitably completes every customer interaction."

Triversity’s Transactionware Enterprise is the most cost-effective, easily deployed J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) solution available today for POS and Point-of-Interaction applications in the retail enterprise. Transactionware Enterprise is the first and only Java POS solution designed from the ground up to harness the power of J2EE. Its highly scalable, open architecture allows retailers to deploy solutions ranging from true thin-client to thick-client systems, on up to massively scalable enterprise server environments that handle billions of transactions per year.
