MULTIMEDIA LIVE LAUNCHES MARKETLIVE(tm) 4.0, MAJOR UPGRADE TO LEADING E-COMMERCE MERCHANDISING SYSTEM

Enhancements Include New Merchant Administration System, Real-Time Merchandising, Event Management Marketing Tools, and Self-Correcting Customer Site Search

San Francisco, CA -- June 2, 2003 -- Multimedia Live (MML) (http://www.mmlive.com), the leading developer of e-commerce technology and services for Intelligent Selling(tm) on the Web, announced today the launch of MarketLive(tm) 4.0. This is a significant upgrade to the company`s market-leading MarketLive Intelligent Selling(tm) System, an enterprise-level e-commerce application currently powering over 100 major e-commerce websites. MarketLive 4.0, unveiled today at the 20th Annual Catalog Conference in San Francisco, represents a major step forward for online merchandisers to quickly deploy merchandising and marketing strategies, assemble and implement personalized marketing campaigns, and instantly update their sites to anticipate changes in the marketplace. A redesigned merchant administration system permits single-click updating of the website and provides fast and efficient access to real-time merchandising features. Other new features include an Event Marketing System and the integration of an error-correcting search tool for use by site visitors.

The new merchant administration system enables website operators to put their marketing and merchandising strategies into action more swiftly. It allows real-time merchandising activities, is faster and easier to use, provides better access to standard MarketLive tools, and incorporates powerful new tools for mass administration of the site. Global cross-selling lets the site operator assign a cross-sell item to many products, multiple product groups, or the entire site. The administration system`s Search, Group, & Apply(sm) functionality lets merchants search their administration system for specific products, group the results, and apply changes to all items in these groups with the click of a button. Examples of Search, Group, & Apply activities include:

* applying discounts, special messaging, price changes, or cross-sells to products;

* adding groups of products to new categories and removing them from others;

* adding items to a campaign and applying that campaign to one or more customer segments.

These and many other strategic merchandising and marketing actions bring a new level of flexibility to website administration, letting merchants respond instantly to changes in the market, compete more effectively, generate sales faster, and reduce the costs and effort associated with maintaining their websites.

The MarketLive Event Marketing System allows merchants to respond to their customers` shopping activities by using e-mail to send targeted promotions to opt-in customers when they are most receptive. The system watches for merchant-defined "trigger" events and sends preformulated e-mail messages at times specified in advance by the merchant. Any customer activity stored in the site`s database can trigger a message: the purchase of specific products, reaching a spending threshold, a period of inactivity, or other data point. For example, if a customer buys a dress online but does not buy the associated cross-sell earrings, the Event Marketing System can be used to automatically send that customer an email message fifteen days later, with an electronic coupon for a discount and a link to the cross-sold earrings. The Event Marketing System is designed to build stronger customer relationships by increasing the relevance of every e-mail contact with customers.

Integration of error-correcting search technology into MarketLive 4.0 greatly improves the number and relevance of search results when shoppers are searching for products. The MarketLive Intelligent Searching(tm) feature uses advanced algorithms to filter and interpret customers` search queries, and to understand them despite typographical errors, misspellings, use of synonyms and unusual search strings, and other customer errors. It can also automatically rank search results according to perceived relevance to the customer. This represents a measurable improvement in a website`s ability to deliver relevant search results and to reduce user frustration, improve overall site usability, and encourage purchasing.

"The MarketLive 4.0 product offers breakthrough merchandising functionality that any company selling its products online will find valuable," said Ken Burke, Multimedia Live President and CEO. "We worked closely with our product advisory board, which is made up of industry leading professionals from the catalog and retail markets, to ensure that MarketLive 4.0 meets the real-world requirements of today`s successful site managers, merchandisers, and technologists. They want and expect a site that helps their business grow and their sales flourish. MarketLive 4.0 plays directly to this demand by making it easier and faster to implement Intelligent Selling strategies for optimizing all selling opportunities and building solid relationships with customers."
