PerformanceRetail Launches QuickStart Convenience Retail System Conversion Program
Initiative Streamlines Conversion From Legacy C-Store Automation Systems; Accelerates Enhanced Retail Performance
AUSTIN, TX, January 19, 2004 - PerformanceRetail, Inc. the leading provider of web-based software for the convenience retail industry, launched today QuickStart, a series of packaged conversion programs for users of legacy convenience store retail automation systems. QuickStart includes automated conversion utilities designed to effectively remove the obstacles convenience store retailers face when migrating their existing systems to modern merchandising and store operations technologies. Initially provided to simplify conversion from the Retalix (RTLX: Nasdaq) StorePoint Price Book system to PerformanceRetail`s InSite solution, the programs provide a generic model for conversion from older legacy systems while preserving retailers’ investment in point of sale technology. Migration support for additional convenience store automation systems is planned for release in the first half of 2004.
Based on extensive work with leading convenience store retailers over the last two years, PerformanceRetail has identified opportunities to improve convenience retail profits by over $1 billion in the United States alone. By replacing legacy solutions and technology; capturing and effectively using item-level inventory, sales and margin data to drive merchandising decisions; and enabling actionable business visibility, PerformanceRetail has shown that convenience retailers can dramatically improve their bottom line and capture these benefits. However, retailers can face significant hurdles to achieving these goals due to the difficulty in migrating from older systems where much of the data resides today. The QuickStart programs streamline these efforts and enable retailers to more quickly drive improved performance by migrating to Performance Retail’s InSite solution.
"Many of today`s retailers cannot improve their merchandising capabilities due to the limitations inherent in their legacy systems, as well as prohibitive switching costs," said Richard White, senior vice president and chief information officer at Ross Stores, Inc. and a member of PerformanceRetail`s board of directors. "QuickStart can remove these barriers and facilitate a retailer`s migration to a modern merchandising and store operations platform."
Designed to tackle the primary obstacle faced by retailers looking to migrate their systems, the QuickStart programs focus on automated conversion of the price book, the central repository of retail pricing and supplier costs inherent in most convenience retail systems. The program is designed to automate migration to the InSite solution without displacing the installed point of sale system. QuickStart for conversion from Retalix StorePoint is available immediately from PerformanceRetail. For more information, call 512.527.6773.
