Internet Retailer announces its first e-retailing conference
Internet Retailer today announced that it will hold its first conference, Internet Retailer 2005 Conference and Exhibition, June 7 and 8 in Chicago. It will feature keynote addresses by Wes Arens, vice president of Amazon Services Inc., and Fiona Dias, president of Circuit City Direct. The conference, which features the theme “Unleashing the Retailing Power of the Web,” will present 45 speakers in 32 sessions.
Like Internet Retailer magazine and IRNewsLink, the conference will cover retailers of all kinds—chains, cataloguers, web-only merchants and manufacturers. “Our goal is to make Internet Retailer 2005 the premier e-retailing event of the year by making its content compelling to retailers, catalogers, virtual merchants and consumer goods manufacturers who share a common goal—to operate world class retail web sites,” says Jack Love, publisher of Internet Retailer.
The Internet Retailer 2005 agenda addresses all the critical issues facing e-retailers today from creating a site that entices consumers to shop to making sure their order arrives on time. And it covers all the steps in between: securing e-payments, using rich media to make the shopping experience informative and fun, making the best use of web analytics technology and implementing best practices in search engine, e-mail and affiliate marketing.
Love notes that the 45 speakers chosen to make presentations at Internet Retailer 2005 were selected by the Internet Retailer editorial staff based on their leadership position in all major segments of the e-retailing market. “Our editorial staff has unparalleled access to the experts in online merchandising,” Love says, “and we relied on that as we assembled the agenda and speakers roster for the conference.” The complete speaker roster is available at http://www.internetretailer.com/IR2005/speakers.html.
The Internet Retailer publisher is optimistic that the conference will hit or exceed its attendance goal of 700, and he cites sales of booths as proof of the enthusiasm for the event that is building in the industry. During the holiday period in the last two weeks of 2004, Internet Retailer sold out all 35 exhibit positions for the conference, forcing the company to work on expanding the exhibit space for the conference.
A pass to all conference sessions, the exhibit hall and events is $795 until March 1. More information and a link to the registration page are available at http://www.internetretailer.com/IR2005/index.htm.
