Barnes & Noble’s web sales increase 2.7% during Q4
Sales Barnes & Noble.com during the last quarter of 2004 increased 2.7% over Q4 2003 to $105.5 million from $102.7 million. For the 48 weeks ended Jan. 1, 2005, Barnes & Noble.com sales declined 1.1% to $373.9 million from $378.1 million.
Barnes & Noble store sales reached $1.04 billion for the nine-week holiday period from Oct. 31, 2004 to Jan. 1, 2005, an increase of $55.7 million, or 5.7% over the year-ago period. Comparable store sales increased 2%. For the 48 weeks ended Jan. 1, 2005, Barnes & Noble store sales rose 7% to $3.8 billion from $3.56 billion, while comparable store sales increased 3.3 percent.
B. Dalton sales were $50.6 million for the nine-week period, a decrease of 22.5% from the same period in fiscal 2003, primarily due to the closing of 55 stores.
