Sony Electronics Inc. is reshaping its e-commerce organization. Previously, SonyStyle.com, the company’s main U.S. business-to-consumer e-commerce site with more than 7,000 SKUs is in its online inventory, was a part of Sony Electronics e-Solutions Co.
But recently Sony, No. 7 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites, dissolved the e-Solutions business unit. The unit’s former senior vice president and general manager, Patrick Vogt, on Aug. 15 was named as new executive vice president with GSI Commerce Inc., a third-party provider of e-commerce services to web retailers.
A Sony spokesman says SonyStyle.com is now part of Sony Electronics Consumer Sales Co. and reports to its president, Stan Glasgow. The daily operations of SonyStyle.com are now headed up by senior vice president Jack Halperin, who was the second highest member of the SonyStyle.com management team from 2000 to 2003, Sony says. Halperin’s current title is senior vice president of consumer direct business, SonyStyle.com.
The e-commerce realignment was part of a routine corporate reorganization, the Sony spokesman says.
