ATG Announces Red Hat Enterprise Linux Support in ATG 6

Move Increases Customer Platform Alternatives While Lowering Total Cost of Ownership

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. and SAN FRANCISCO, JavaOne (Booth 612) - June 10, 2003 - ATG (Art Technology Group, Nasdaq: ARTG), a leading provider of innovative software applications for commerce and customer self-service, today announced that the company`s ATG 6 product suite now supports the Linux operating system. Support for the Red Hat Enterprise Linux platform is available both to customers looking to build commerce and self-service applications on the Linux platform, as well those who wish to migrate their ATG applications from an existing operating system.

The decision to support Linux is the latest milestone in ATG`s ongoing commitment to provide the industry`s most adaptable, platform-independent applications, designed to fit into any existing IT architecture. ATG continues to demonstrate strong technical leadership in supporting critical enterprise computing technology, as evidenced by the company`s early commitment to enterprise Java technology; open application server support; and its recent decision to certify Linux for its innovative online applications. Companies running on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux platform will now be able to tap into ATG`s best-of-breed applications while existing ATG customers can continue to generate ROI from ATG`s products and lower the total cost of ownership by leveraging the Linux platform.

"Linux has shown over the years that it can provide a robust environment that can handle the flexibility and scalability needs of customers of all types and sizes. Indeed, it has entered the domain of mainstream corporate computing," said Fumi Matsumoto, chief technology officer, ATG. "Now, customers have the best of both worlds - the industry`s finest offering for commerce and self-service applications running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, a platform that helps reduce overall costs."

ATG has joined the Red Hat Ready program, a program designed to allow software vendors to test and qualify their applications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Customers who choose to deploy Red Hat Ready applications will have the assurance that the software has been tested on the latest versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and that vendors are compliant with Red Hat`s guidelines for interoperability.

"A solution with ATG applications running on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux platform is a very flexible, reliable architecture," said Mike Evans, vice president of channel sales and development, Red Hat. "There has been great customer demand for enterprise applications such as ATG`s commerce, self-service, and personalization applications to be compatible with the cost-effective and powerful Red Hat Enterprise Linux platform. Customers will now have the benefits of an affordable, enterprise-ready solution that meets the needs of companies of all sizes."

ATG has historically provided Linux support in specific implementations for some customers. Many of those customers have found that the reduction in costs associated with the operation of the system environment has freed up their budgets to pursue additional projects and initiatives.

"ATG`s decision to generally and formally support Linux is a positive move," said Keith Nichols, director of development, Restoration Hardware. "We believe that the flexibility from a resources standpoint of running on Linux will allow us to be even more creative and forward thinking in our use of ATG products."

Linux support will be available beginning June 30.
