Getting It in Gear

Closeout sporting goods e-tailer Gear.com says that it has tripled its product line in the past six months. Ealier this year, Gear.com offered approximately 1,000 products from 150 manufacturers. Now, it says, it works with more than 550 manufacturers, offering 3,000 products--approximately 200,000 individual items.

     "Manufacturers authorize us to carry their products because we complement, rather than compete with their traditional retail sales channels," says Gear.com President Ken Blue.

     Seattle-based Gear.com sells name-brand, closeout sporting goods from 25%-75% below retail, it claims. Gear.com provides customers with a 30-day money-back guarantee, and standard shipping is free on orders over $75.
