Webvan Group Inc., Foster City, Calif., is now offering its Internet-based delivery service in the Chicagoland area. The company says that it will deliver products to homes and offices within a 30-minute window of the customer's choosing. Webvan offers a full range of groceries, electronics, CDs, DVDs, non-prescription drugs, books, fresh flowers and home and office supplies. The groceries include farm-fresh produce, USDA Choice meats and poultry, premium seafood, cheeses and baked goods from nationally known purveyors, artisan breads and special-occasion desserts from local bakeries.

     Chicago residents will also find be able to get local favorites such as Home Run Pizza, El Ranchero tortillas and Corner Bakery pastries on the site. The company will deliver to the Chicago area from its 370,000-sq. ft. distribution center in suburban Carol Stream.

     Also, through its exclusive partnership with Schoolpop.com, the largest Internet fundraiser for schools, customers can select the local Chicago-area school of their choice, which will receive up to 4% of a shopper's total purchase. Further, it has a deal with the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
