Custom features launch on Stevemadden.com
Shoe marketer Steve Madden has joined the ranks of Nike, Lands’ End and a growing number of other retailers who are putting the ability for consumers to design personalized versions of their products online. The newly-launched “Design Your Own” collection on SteveMadden.com offers options resulting in a total of 4,221 combinations.
Consumers can make their choices among product features such as heel height, pattern, material, finishing and color. “I believe in being at the cutting edge of the most important trends. Our new ‘Design Your Own’ collection will give our customers the fashion-forward styles they have come to expect from Steve Madden, combined with the added allure of personal self-expression,” says founder Steve Madden.
The Design Your Own” application – like the rest of the e-commerce platform that supports SteveMadden.com–is from KOMPO e-commerce Solutions. KOMPO’s end-to-end e-commerce solution operates Steve Madden’s entire online business including not only the e-commerce platform but online marketing, according to KOMPO CEO Jeff Silverman. And in the case of the "Design Your Own" collection, it does something more: it actually oversees the manufacture and fulfillment of the custom shoes on site in partnership with an offshore contract manufacturer, Silverman says.
KOMPO e-commerce Solutions, which grew out of Preschoolians, a children`s footwear business that launched with the Internet as its exclusive marketing, sales and distribution mechanism, relaunched SteveMadden.com on its own platform in 2005. It has signed on to provide service to and expects to launch online operations for other e-retailers in the near future, Silverman says.
