UPS posts 15% increase in Q2 revenue
Revenue from U.S. small package deliveries rose 7.5% to $7.46 billion in the second quarter, as international small-package revenue rose 11.5% to $2.23 billion and total revenue increased 15% to $11.74 billion, UPS said this week.
“Our global small-package volume growth in the second quarter was robust, resulting in a solid earnings gain,” said chairman and CEO Michael Eskew. “The global small-package market continues to expand and we are seeing significant opportunities for UPS.”
Total Q2 revenue includes about $2 billion in supply chain and freight services. Consolidated operating profit for the quarter rose 9.7% year-over-year to $1.7 billion.
Also in Q2, UPS announced a $1 billion-plus 5-year expansion plan for its Worldport transportation hub in Louisville, KY. The 1.1 million-square-foot expansion will increase the facility’s capacity by 60% to 487,000 packages per hour.
