Accelerates AS2 Deployment in Global CPG and Food Service Industries
IRVING, Texas, Feb. 5 -- bTrade, the business-to-business (B2B) software leader, announced today that the company signed an alliance agreement with Becton Schantz, the market leader in hosted order management services. The alliance agreement includes three areas of collaboration, bringing innovative services to new customers and accelerating penetration of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) among the nation`s retail supply chain:
1. Becton Schantz will imbed bTrade TDNgine and bTrade Relay into their
service center, enabling the company`s 250 food service and retail
broker customers to reduce Value Added Network (VAN) costs,
streamline operations and use the AS2-Internet service capabilities
of bTrade TDNgine to securely receive orders and deliver invoices
directly from and to retailers;
2. bTrade will joint market the new Becton Schantz hosted service to
bTrade customers in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Industry; and,
3. bTrade and Becton Schantz will introduce a joint service to retailers
and their supplier communities to "EDI-ze" the industry.
Investments in a faster and lower-cost supply chain system benefit retailers when a "critical mass" of partners send and receive orders and invoices electronically. Today, most retailers manage purchase orders and invoices manually, via paper and fax, with at least 80 percent of their suppliers.
"The bTrade/Becton Schantz alliance brings a comprehensive set of sophisticated products, hosted services, professional services and marketing management to help any retailer accelerate VAN-less B2B and grow their EDI implementation," said David Lonsdale, bTrade chairman and CEO. "We can uniquely address the broad scope of needs and economics for both the largest and smallest suppliers."
Retailers deploy bTrade TDNgine message center software and work with bTrade professional services to accelerate AS2 communications with suppliers. Larger suppliers purchase bTrade TDAccess and use AS2. Smaller suppliers use Becton Schantz hosted order management services to manage their orders, inventory and AS2 communications with a predictable monthly fee.
"When we looked at our previous bTrade alliances over the past year with Meijer, Wal-Mart and other retailers, an important customer need became apparent: an advanced order management hosted service. Becton Schantz are the best in that business," said Lonsdale.
"Becton Schantz chose bTrade because of its outstanding products and leadership capabilities in community building services," said Marc Schantz, president of Becton Schantz. "Customers, particularly the small-to-mid-sized consumer packaged goods manufacturer, will be excited about our low monthly price and `all-in` full-featured functionality. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software implementations are notoriously over-budget and late. We eliminate that cost and risk."
AS2 is a popular method for companies to automatically share important supply chain documents such as purchase orders and invoices over the Internet. Large U.S. retailers such as Wal*Mart and Home Depot mandated AS2 to their suppliers last year. With the exception of the nation`s largest retailers, the bulk of the retail supply chain has yet to take that step forward.
Order management services is the business process of capturing electronic purchase orders from retailers, validating them and translating them into electronic documents for factories or distributors. Becton Schantz is a world leader in hosted order management services, with over 250 customers in the food service and retail broker communities.
