Lawson Signs Multi-Million Dollar Deal with Pathmark Stores, Inc.
Proven Grocery Store Specific Solution, Retail Vision Secure Win
ST. PAUL, Minn--July 2, 2003--Lawson Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: LWSN) today announced that Pathmark Stores, Inc. (Nasdaq: PTMK), a leading East coast supermarket chain with 143 stores located throughout New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia, has signed a long-term contract for Lawson`s Retail Enterprise Solution, including Retail Operations, Smart Notification and Enterprise Performance Management.
Pathmark will use the Lawson solution to create a single framework that will support merchandising, streamline pricing and new items, and provide users with an exception-based management system.
Pathmark cited Lawson`s superior technology, scalability and vision as reasons for the selection. Art Whitney, executive vice president of Merchandising and Logistics for Pathmark Stores, said, "Lawson`s new software system will enhance our ability to source items from different methods of distribution and will provide a quick response to Pathmark`s business needs. Lawson Retail Operations is flexible, scalable and easy to use. Along with Lawson`s Financials Suite that was implemented at Pathmark in 2001, Lawson`s Retail Operations applications will provide the organization with a comprehensive, integrated solution across all merchandising and financial applications that will promote a `single version of the truth` across all operational reporting.
