3-D technology stretches customer visits
The amount of time customers stay at web sites lengthens when the sites feature 3-D views of their products, says executives of two sites that have implemented 3-D.
Plus Vision Corp., a seller of portable projectors, says in the month after it implemented 3-D technology from Maynard, MA-based Kaon Interactive Inc. the average visit grew by nearly a minute. “Customers have commented on how using the 3-D viewer is like being in the showroom, with the ability to fully inspect the projectors up close,” said Seth Wood, web administrator of Plus Vision. The company uses 3-d technology on its V-807, Traveler, CS-11, and Legend projectors.
Similarly, Quantum Bridge Communications, which sells networking equipment, reports longer customer visits. “After deploying Kaon’s 3-D technology across our entire product line, we have experienced a dramatic increase in online customer viewing times and page views, which has a direct correlation to increased sales,” said Jeff Gwynne, senior vice president of marketing. “Kaon has removed the technical barriers previously associated with 3D on the Web and has done so at a price comparable to 2D technology.”
Kaon provides 3-D technology that users can access from any computer platform without a software plug-in.
