Jeff Thorpe to head SFG’s operations
BIG SANDY, Texas – Strategic Fulfillment Group announced today that Jeff Thorpe will head its operations here. Thorpe, who was senior vice president of operations at Palm Coast Data until earlier this year, will serve as SFG’s chief operating officer effective July 14.
SFG (http://www.strategicfulfillment.com) provides fulfillment services to publishing and direct-marketing companies, and maintains more than 12 million customer names and addresses, and more than 500 million associated records. Services include database management, call center services, order processing (mail, phone and Internet), programming, kit assembly, product and premium fulfillment and mailing services.
“SFG is truly poised for growth, having a spacious facility with a capable and experienced workforce,” said Thorpe. “The industry has been waiting for a unique relational database system that ties a customer’s magazine subscription, continuity and catalog sales into one customer record. SFG has that.”
“Jeff is a great addition to SFG,” said SFG Chief Executive Officer John Robinson. “We are extremely pleased to have a person of Jeff’s broad industry experience and perspective.”
During his career, Thorpe held key operations posts at not only PCD, but EDS (formerly Neodata Services) and Communications Data Services. He has also worked for the National Geographic Society as vice president of operations and at Time, Inc. as president of Time-Life Books and Music Customer Services and general manager of Book-of-the-Month Club.
As a consultant, Thorpe served the National Rifle Association and Real Time Publication Services, Inc. He was also named to the Fulfillment Management Association’s Hall of Fame in 2000.
SFG is currently managed by Steve McNeely, who will report to Thorpe effective July 14. In June, SFG announced that Marge Evans, formerly of Neodata and PCD, would be joining SFG to head its sales efforts. Thorpe will head all SFG operations with the exception of marketing and sales, which will report to Robinson.
