iTV households set to boom, eMarketer reports
The number of households with interactive TV will explode over the next four years, setting the stage for growth in TV shopping, researchers eMarketer reported today. Here’s the growth as eMarketer sees it (in millions):
2000: 3.2, 3%
2001: 12.7, 11.8%
2002: 22.1, 20.3%
2003: 33.4, 30.4%
2004: 45.7, 41.1%
2005: 58.2, 51.9%
eMarketer`s New “Interactive TV: Reality & Opportunity Report” says TV-based marketers will have to address such issues as how interactive TV revenues compare to Internet-based revenue, the pros and cons of the different TV distribution platforms and what are the prospects for iTV advertising vs. subscription revenue.
