Buy.com’s Q2 revenue rises 32% year-over-year
Revenue at Buy.com Inc. totaled $101.8 million for the second quarter, up 32% from $77 million a year ago, the retailer reports. Gross profits increased 55% to $11.9 million from $7.7 million in 2005’s second quarter. Gross profits as a percent of revenues increased 170 basis points to 11.7%.
Buy.com also reported that new customers acquired during the first half rose 38%, with cumulative customers in excess of 8.7 million at the end of June. The company operates retail site Buy.com and social networking/retailing site YUB.com.
“During the second quarter, and first half of 2006, we saw a continuation of increased growth in revenues, gross profit and new customers over the same period in 2005,” said Neal Grover, CEO.
The company in April launched its Canadian web site, its first step in expanding the business internationally. In May, it launched BuyTv, a broadband interactive shopping program showcasing entertainment and technology products.
