Web stores become increasingly important in new product rollouts
As the web becomes an increasingly important retail distribution channel, electronics manufacturers are making sure that web stores are part of their strategy for rolling out new products. Both Sony and Handspring Inc. today announced that their newest products would be featured at major web sites.
Sony announced that it will design a product line, called Sony Liv, exclusively for Target.com and Target Stores that will roll out this spring. The line includes nine products with compact designs and new color shades that are priced under $150. Meanwhile, Handspring is including Amazon.com in its retailer list to sell its new Treo 180 wireless communicators.
