Sigma Micro expands staff with acquisition of Quark Commerce

Along with its acquisition of Quark Inc.’s Quark Commerce web content management application, retail enterprise software provider Sigma Micro LLC gains about 30 new employees and opens a new product development office in northern India, says Sigma Micro president Joseph Swern.

Indianapolis-based Sigma Micro announced earlier this month that it had acquired the intellectual property rights and other assets of Quark Commerce, a web-based marketing resource management application that helps retailers manage catalogs as well as e-mail and print advertising and analyze how well they’re targeting consumers. Quark Commerce is now one of several software modules included in the Sigma Commerce suite of retail operations software.

The new development office in northern India will complement Sigma Micro’s existing facility in southern India, which is operated by its Ind-Sigma Infotech development arm.

“This gives us a huge boost in where we want to take our company,” Swern says, adding Sigma Micro is committed to serving the software needs of multi-channel retailers.
