Walgreen launches pharmacy site targeting U.S. Hispanics
WalgreensEspanol.com debuts this week, the first Spanish-language pharmacy web site targeting U.S. Hispanics to be launched by a national pharmacy retailer. “Our Puerto Rico stores and other locations that serve Hispanic communities have told us about the need for this kind of resource,” says Tim McCauley, e-commerce director at drugstore chain Walgreen Co. “It’s a great opportunity to extend our online health care services to millions of people.”
The site provides drug information, an online prescription refill form, a store locator and directions on how to use services on the site. Currently, merchandise isn’t offered, but additional services will be added to the site based on user feedback, the company says.
Walgreen`s full-service online pharmacy launched in 1999 and its online drugstore launched the following year. Walgreen’s was the first pharmacy chain to fully integrate its online pharmacy with its retail locations, allowing consumers to view and update their personal prescription history online
