Online self-service benefits gaining in employee popularity, survey finds
Online self-service benefits administration is growing in popularity among employees in industry sectors including retail, according to survey results just released by Benelogic, a provider of benefits administration software and services. Benelogic’s online survey of some 4,100 employees at 10 locations that use the software was powered by technology from Inquisite, a division of Catapult Systems Corp., a provider of web survey technology.
The survey data show workers are responding to online self-service in the benefits arena because they can select and get information about the benefits they want with ease, privacy and security from any location with a connected PC, according to Benelogic.
Specifically, 55% of those surveyed completed the benefits enrollment process online for the first time in 2002, with 54% of those polled doing so via non-corporate computers. Some 35% said they found the online method to be less confusing and less time-consuming than using interactive voice recognition systems, while 87% said the Benelogic system was better than their prior method of benefits enrolment.
“Employees benefit because they have better understanding of the value of their unique sets of company-provided programs and can take more responsibility for decision-making,” says Sam Goodner, Inquisite’s CEO.
