Product Allows Quick Insight Into Web Site Effectiveness
DALLAS (March 15, 2004) Usability Sciences Corporation, a company dedicated to delivering business impact through the science of usability, announced today the release of PathNavŒ, an analysis extension of the company¹s market-leading WebIQ® survey technology. PathNav provides visibility into the paths actual Web site visitors take and insight into the relative effectiveness of those paths.
WebIQ differs from other site survey technologies in its ability to reveal cause, as well as effect. WebIQ allows this by capturing richer user experience data than other survey vehicles, storing scored responses, verbatim feedback, and clickstream data as an integrated record. PathNav exploits the richness of the data, revealing, click by click, the effect of navigation choices on visit success for any given segment of the visitor population. This provides site managers the ability to see the effect that each navigational decision has on key user experience metrics, such as visit success, site satisfaction, brand affinity, and likelihood to return or to purchase.
“Our mission is to help our customers understand the effectiveness of their Web site and evaluate what can be done to make it better. PathNav enhances our analysts’ ability to deliver actionable recommendations based on data gathered by WebIQ,” said Jeff Schueler, president of Usability Sciences. “They can now manipulate data in ways never before possible, and quickly get to the root causes of site problems.”
PathNav’s power and sophistication derive from its proprietary aliasing engine, an automated methodology for cleansing and organizing clickstream data into meaningful analytical buckets. Usability Sciences¹ analysts can work with up to 20 alias groups, where each alias group can contain an unlimited number of data points. Aliasing can be adjusted, therefore, to support a wide variety of analytical viewpoints. PathNav provides the ability to look at data from a navigational perspective, a content perspective, an architectural perspective, a process perspective, or other perspectives that best meet the site¹s mission and business objectives. The integration of attitudinal and behavioral data provides unprecedented insight into the causality of the site visitors¹ user experience.
