Online consumer retail spending growth took a breather the week ending Aug. 24, rising only 5% to $928 million from $885 million for the corresponding week a year ago, comScore Networks Inc.’s Media Metrix division reports. Except for a one week decline in June, the growth is the lowest year-over-year weekly growth this year. It follows seven weeks in which weekly year-over-year growth was 25% or more.
Total retail sales for the week ending Aug. 23 grew 4.1% from the corresponding week a year ago, the 17th consecutive week of year-over-year growth, report ShopperTrak’s National Retail Sales Estimate.
Online travel sales for the week ending Aug. 24 were 37% ahead of the corresponding week a year ago, comScore reports, reaching $769 million from $560 million.
