Callaway Golf launches web site to promote store sales
Callaway Golf Co. and Trade Up Commerce Inc. have launched TradeInTradeUp.com, which lets golfers who want to trade in their clubs review club specifications and find more than 2,000 Callaway retailers. The “Trade In! Trade Up!” program, which has been operating offline since late last year, has already resulted in tens of thousands of trades, said Patricia Hutin, Callaway`s executive vice president of global sales and advertising.
“By providing discounts to loyal Callaway Golf consumers, we’ve made it easier for golfers to buy our newest, most technologically advanced products,” she said. “Both the trade-in volume and the retailer participation to date underscore the effectiveness of this program.”
The program lets a consumer take used Callaway equipment to a participating retailer to receive predetermined credit, then apply that credit toward the purchase of new clubs. But with TradeInTradeUp.com, Callaway customers can research the expected value of their existing clubs and compare it to prices of new equipment before taking their clubs to a retailer. Prices are provided in U.S. and Canadian dollars.
The program provides the participating retailer full reimbursement for the trade-in credit given to the consumer, allowing the merchant to realize the full margin from the sale of new clubs.
Trade Up Commerce, which recently changed its name from FrogTrader Inc., provides an e-commerce platform designed to sell end-of-cycle, used and refurbished products for consumer hard goods companies.
