360Commerce Growth Defies Economic Trend

To Meet Increased Store Systems Software Demand, Leading Java Software Provider Builds Strong Employee Foundation

Austin, Texas (March 29, 2004) – 360Commerce today announced an 88 percent increase in its seasoned workforce since the first quarter of 2003 in preparation for expected customer activity in 2004 and 2005.

360Commerce has the world’s largest install base of Java point-of-sale customers, including Apple, Circuit City, Gap Inc., and The Home Depot. Its proven solutions have uniquely positioned 360Commerce to work with some of the most innovative thinkers in retail technology and some of the most successful retail enterprises, resulting in best-in-class functionality and an unmatched technology offering. This next-generation store and enterprise solution has allowed 360Commerce to close major deals during the downturn in the economy, enabling the company to create a substantial support system for current and future customers.

360Commerce has been recognized as one of the elite among the retail industry’s software vendors. Consistently ranked as one of the top 25 Austin software companies by the Austin Business Journal and recently recognized on the Software Magazine Software 500 list, 360Commerce is taking full advantage of the flood of interest by job candidates. “The caliber of candidates we are seeing is outstanding,” said Toni McIntosh, director of human resources for 360Commerce. “We have been able to bring the best of the best on board. Over the course of one weekend alone we had over 450 resumes come through our system. With the pent up demand in the retail software market and pending customer contracts, we have room to grow our employee base substantially and have strategically done so over the past year.”

360Commerce has added team members across all departments, including research and development, quality assurance, product management, sales, customer service and support, customer training and documentation, and professional services, strengthening its employee foundation. Recent senior level additions to the 360Commerce team include:
• Tom Griffin, senior director of quality assurance – Griffin’s twenty years of software experience, including his recent leadership position at Vignette Corporation, has encompassed development, technical support, software configuration management and quality assurance.
• John Filut, director of customer support – Filut was most recently at Motive Communications and brings with him fourteen years of software experience including eight years at GE. His extensive experience includes customer support management and product development.
• Weston Dillard, director of development – Most recently at Vignette Corporation, Dillard’s eighteen years in software development have spanned all aspects of the software lifecycle from requirements definition to customer support, including development, testing, support engineering, technical sales and professional services.

Additionally, 360Commerce continues to grow its sales channels and add new key industry partners while expanding its relationships with current partners.
Over the past few years many vendors serving the retail industry have scaled back by reducing operating costs, cutting advertising or tradeshow presence, and downsizing or implementing hiring freezes. The economy and the number of deferred or cancelled IT projects in the retail technology sector have played a major role. In the midst of the market slump, there is one retail software vendor that is providing a home for the cream of the high tech crop - 360Commerce.
