RedPrairie Announces Direct To Consumer Supply Chain Technology Suite
New End-to-End SCT Suite Provides Comprehensive Processing From Initial Sourcing to Customer Delivery to Streamline Distribution for DTC and Drop Ship Retail Environments
WAUKESHA, Wis.--April 7, 2004-- RedPrairie Corporation, a leader in global supply chain technology solutions that drive business transformation, today announced a new suite of solutions designed to meet the unique challenges of direct to consumer (DTC) retailers for both direct distribution and drop ship environments. The suite includes new applications, such as DLx(R) SourceRight, a rules-based order sourcing internet module (see March 5 release) and tailored versions of RedPrairie`s warehouse, transportation and productivity management systems as well as advanced process management and optimization capabilities. The result is increased efficiency, more flexible and cost-effective order fulfillment, and improved customer service.
Comments John Jazwiec, RedPrairie Company Leader, "Direct to consumer retailers face special challenges satisfying the greatly varying order configuration, handling and delivery requests of consumers. Flexible distribution systems are required to meet these challenges and satisfy customers in a timely manner. RedPrairie`s DTC solution provides flexible sourcing, packaging, value-added-services and shipping processes DTC retailers need to meet these challenges."
The DTC suite includes the advanced order management capabilities of DLx(R) SourceRight, a user-configurable inventory sourcing and allocation component that provides network wide visibility to orders and inventory to enable lowest cost, best service allocation and shipment, while balancing workflow.
Within the distribution center, the DTC suite employs sophisticated picking and value-added-service capabilities that enable personalization of each order, with customized packaging and shipment. Since these orders typically require more manual effort to fulfill, the DTC suite has comprehensive task management, labor planning and scheduling capabilities to ensure maximum labor productivity is achieved while satisfying unique customer order parameters. The result is the ability to efficiently process mass customization for consumer orders with the precision and timeliness that creates customer loyalty.
The suite optionally includes small parcel shipment capabilities that reduce costs through best routing algorithms for zone skipping, LTL consolidation, multi-stop routing and pool-point shipments. There are also capabilities for merge-in-transit and mixing center processing for more complex orders. This ensures that complete orders arrive at the customer when promised.
The consumer experience is further enhanced with web-based tools for order status, tracking, and shipment tracing. This information can be provided by customer service reps or offered direct to the consumer online.
RedPrairie is offering this new DTC suite after working with many DTC retailers to solve their unique and pressing challenges. Examples of current DTC customers include Cingular Wireless, American Musical Supply, Bear Creek, Amazon.com and Swiss Colony.
