Build-A-Bear builds on solid web growth


Build-A-Bear Workshop Inc. grew web sales 13% in the fourth quarter and 21% for 2006.

For 2006, Build-A-Bear, No. 400 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, posted web sales of $10.2 million vs. e-commerce revenue of $8.4 million in 2005. In Q4, web sales totaled $4.5 million, compared with $4 million in Q4 of the prior year.

For the full year, total sales for Build-A-Bear climbed by 21% to $437 million from $361.8 million in 2005. For the fourth quarter Build-A-Bear’s revenue totaled $143.2 million vs. $118 million in Q4 2005.

Overall the web accounted for 2% of total revenue last year and 3% in the fourth quarter.

“The successful integration of our U.K. acquisition, completion of our company-owned distribution center, new store growth, and continued investment in our brand and infrastructure all position Build-A-Bear Workshop for future growth,” says chairman and CEO Maxine Clark.
