ToysRUs.com enters sports equipment arena with new SportsRUs.com


ToysRUs Inc.’s family of web sites keeps getting bigger. The multi-channel toy retailer, which already operates websites ToysRUs.com, BabiesRUs.com, Imaginarium.com and GiftsRUs.com, this week launched SportsRUs.com. The new site also is a featured merchant under the new Sporting Goods tab on Amazon.com, which will run SportsRUs.com’s e-commerce operation, as it does for Toys R Us’s other sites. GSI Commerce Inc. will provide fulfillment and other back-end services to SportsRUs.com

Targeting families with children, the site offers a “Just for Kids” area designed to help parents quickly find the right equipment for kids aged 5 to 12. It features buying guides with expert tips, sizing charts to help select equipment by age, height and weight, and customer reviews. The site also features adult sports equipment with nearly 1,000 brands represented, along with apparel, games, footwear and other categories totaling more than 30,000 items, the company says.

“SportsRUs.com will be the ultimate place for parents to shop for sporting goods for kids,” says Ray Arthur, president of ToysRUs.com. “Our goal is to become the premier one-stop shopping destination for children’s products online.”
