Although its latest deal is not web-based, same-day delivery company Ensenda Inc. is intent on proving that the concept of rapid delivery of orders, which received a black eye last year following several high-profile crashes, is viable. Ensenda announced today that toy retailer FAO Inc.’s FAO Schwarz will use Ensenda to make same-day deliveries of toys from its flagship store on 5th Avenue in Manhattan.
The agreement is an expansion of Ensenda’s relationship with FAO, which operates FAO Schwarz, The Right Start and Zany Brainy. Currently Ensenda delivery is available from Right Start stores in California, Connecticut and Illinois, and Zany Brainy stores in Illinois and Wisconsin.
"Today when FAO customers ask for delivery, the in-store shipping department makes the arrangements, but we can not guarantee the quality and pricing of the service," said Dave Flury, vice president and general manager of FAO Schwarz 5th Avenue. "With Ensenda in place, we will offer a harmonized process that meets our high standards for quality customer service."
Ensenda uses a nationwide network of independent courier companies to deliver products from retail locations. Ensenda delivers orders via the web to the couriers who must meet performance standards to continue to get orders from Ensenda. Its courier partners employ 10,000 delivery personnel in 120 markets. Current customers in the US and Canada include FastSigns, Kepler's Books and LaserNetworks.
