Kewill Acquires ShipNow’s Shipping Management Platform

Acquisition Opens New Markets and Provides Proven Strategic Technology

MARLBOROUGH, MA. April 8, 2004 — Kewill Systems (LSE: KWL), the leader in supply chain execution software for cost control and delivery visibility, announced today the acquisition of ShipNow’s shipping management platform, DI Server. The technology will be incorporated into Kewill’s market leading shipping management solutions to deliver next-generation products and value to the market and customers.

“Kewill is committed to extending our lead in the shipping management market,” said Paul Nichols, CEO of Kewill Systems, “The addition of ShipNow’s international shipping modules complements Kewill’s existing product portfolio and allows us to accelerate penetration in the European and Asian markets. Furthermore, DI Server’s support of Sarbanes-Oxley opens up the U.S.-based financial services markets for Kewill.”

DI Server, a multi-carrier shipping management platform, has been architected with the latest technology and is purpose-built for high-volume, worldwide shipping operations. It has been proven in global companies such as Neiman Marcus, OfficeMax, and Anixter. The acquisition enables Kewill to further lower the total cost of ownership, provide highly scalable solutions for high volume customers, and speed the time to market in the development of new features and products through the use of a more extensible and modular architecture.

“By joining forces with Kewill, an acknowledged market leader in shipping management, we immediately enhance the scope of innovative product offerings,” said Mike Kurgan, CEO of ShipNow. “Bringing together their expertise in carrier compliance and their large customer base with ShipNow’s cutting edge DI Server creates the richest set of shipping solutions in the market.”

According to ARC Advisory Group, the parcel management market is growing at a cumulative aggregate growth rate of 10.9% per year. "Order sizes are getting smaller and shipment frequencies are increasing across many industries, especially those that are migrating towards a Make-to-Order (MTO), Just-in-Time (JIT), or Direct-to-Store/Consumer business model,” said Adrian Gonzalez, Director of Logistics Executive Council, ARC Advisory Group. “This trend is part of an overall strategy to minimize inventory, reduce obsolescence, and become more responsive to customer demand. Therefore, the role of parcel shipping is becoming more important, which will drive demand for IT solutions that can help companies automate and streamline their shipping operations."

Kewill’s expertise in deploying its shipping solutions is unmatched in terms of variety of industries, business processes, and integration to IT systems. Kewill is committed to extending its market leadership position by working closely with strategic customers to successfully leverage their investments, while delivering next generation products. This domain knowledge and investment is fundamental to Kewill increasing its share of the parcel shipping market.
