Multimedia Live Partners with IBM to Provide World-Class Hosting Services to MML Clients

Petaluma, CA -- January 22, 2002 -- Multimedia Live (MML) (http://www.mmlive.com), the leading developer of e-commerce technology and services for Intelligent Selling™ on the Web, announced today that it has selected IBM (http://www.ibm.com) (NYSE: IBM) as its new primary hosting partner. MML selected IBM to host its clients’ websites because of its reputation, peak load capacity, overall corporate stability, quality of service, reliability, strong security, technological capabilities that allow it to service the unique needs of catalogers and retailers, and other important factors. MML has set up its own data center at IBM`s secure Hosting Center™ facilities, and has created a migration plan that several new and current clients have already used to move their Web presence to IBM from their previous providers.

MML evaluated several companies, seeking the one that would provide the optimum level of security and reliability combined with the superior services and technology required by MML’s client base of retailers, catalogers, direct marketers, and manufacturers. IBM is a global leader in broadband Internet-based communications with one of the largest, most technologically advanced networks in the world. MML will co-locate its clients’ servers in several of IBM`s Hosting Center facilities, which sit directly on IBM`s global, high-speed fiber-optic network -- their own Internet backbone. These centers are staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by highly trained technical personnel who monitor and maintain all equipment and systems. All IBM Hosting Centers feature uninterruptible power supply (UPS) protection, electric generator backup, climate control through redundant HVAC air filtration, fire suppression systems, and other advanced design characteristics. These will all contribute to an extremely high overall level of reliability and security for MML client websites.

IBM provides an array of hosting plans to meet the needs of MML’s diverse clients. IBM offers differing levels of service, from basic co-location to customized, integrated e-commerce solutions. Depending upon the level of service required, hosting plans can include varying degrees of monitoring from occasional hardware and connection checks to constant surveillance. Secure firewalls, load balancing, backup/recovery, and a comprehensive assortment of other vital services and features are available. All hosting plans offer scalability, and network access speeds from 56 Kbps to 2.4 Gbps, the fastest speed commercially available at this time.

“We looked at several companies before we selected IBM, including WorldCom, Sprint, Level 3, Above Net, and Qwest Communications,” said Ken Burke, President and CEO of Multimedia Live. “Our analysis indicated that IBM provides the long-term stability, network speed and capacity, and array of services that our clients typically need, freeing them to focus on their core business activities rather than on the mechanics of operating their websites."
