J. Crew fills the new slot of EVP-e-commerce and catalogs
Roxane Al-Fayez has been named executive vice president of e-commerce and catalogs at J. Crew Group Inc. She moves into a newly created position that pulls together a number of responsibilities that had been fragmented among other managers, the company says. She will report to chairman and CEO Millard Drexler.
Al-Fayez most recently was vice president of operations for Gap Inc. Direct, a division of Gap Inc. Before that, she spent nine years at Victoria`s Secret Catalogue where she held several positions ending with executive vice president of circulation and international in 1997.
J.Crew operates JCrew.com, a catalog business, 155 retail stores and 42 factory outlet stores. Online sales have been growing strongly, reaching $63.5 million in the first half, up 12.4% from $56.5 million in last year’s first half, and accounting for 19.3% of sales vs. 16.9%. Catalog sales have been falling, however, down 45% in the first half to $29.7 million from $45 million. Combined online and catalog sales created a decline in sales in the direct division in the first half to 28.4% of J. Crew sales vs. 30.3% a year ago.
