Online retail sales up 15% for week ending Sept. 28


Online retail sales’ growth slowed a bit for the week ending Sept. 28, growing 15% to $934 million from $810 million for the corresponding week a year ago, comScore Networks Inc.’s Media Metrix division reports. For most of September, online sales grew 30% or more from the year before.

Total retail sales for the week ending Sept. 27 grew 6.5% vs. a year ago, reports ShopperTrak’s National Retail Sales Estimate. It was the 22nd consecutive week of year-over-year sales growth. “The American consumer is still very much shopping and spending,” said Michael Niemira, lead consultant for the National Retail Sales Estimate.

Online travel sales for the week ending Sept. 28 grew 9% to $667 million from $613 million a year ago, comScore repots.
