NextExec At NextCard

Online credit card issuer NextCard Inc., San Francisco, has named John Hashman as president. He will also continue to serve as Chief Financial Officer. In addition to his current CFO responsibilities, Hashman will assume responsibility for legal, human resources, administration and project integration. Further, he will chair a newly created Operating Committee consisting of senior management of the company. Prior to joining NextCard in 1997, Hashman spent over eleven years at Providian Financial as vice president in various marketing, operations and finance positions. NextCard was launched in 1997, it claims, as the first company to offer online credit card approval within 30 seconds, a choice of customized credit card offers and personalized PictureCards. NextCard is also a player in consumer shopping through its GoShopping! Web site, NextCard Concierge and rewards program. It also publishes the NextCard eCommerce Index, a source of online purchase activity.
