StoreNext introduces Connected Direct Store Delivery

Software gives independent grocers automated receiving functions without back office

CHICAGO — May 2, 2004 — StoreNext Retail Technologies LLC has developed Connected Direct Store Delivery (C-DSD), a Web-based Connected Services™ application that automates an independent grocer’s direct store delivery and receiving functions without the need for a back-office system.

The announcement was made at the 2004 FMI Show at McCormick Place in Chicago, May 2-4.

"Direct store delivery and receiving are important functions for any store, but many small grocers have no receiving capabilities because the cost of a full back-office system is too high," said Ray Carlin, president and chief executive officer at Plano, Texas-based StoreNext. "Our C-DSD hosted application cuts the up-front costs and need for a back office while providing independent grocers with an automated receiving function that positively affects the store’s bottom line."

C-DSD manages store deliveries and vendor check-in, ensuring accurate costs and profitable margins for the grocer. It also features a document manager that creates, audits and updates receiving documents.

Like other Connected Services applications, C-DSD resides on StoreNext’s hosting system to eliminate initial software costs, and it is accessed by store managers through a secure Web browser. C-DSD integrates with StoreNext’s ISS45 point-of-sale (POS) platform, StoreNext’s PocketOffice mobile platform and Fujitsu Transaction Solution’s iPAD handheld.

The Connected Services application suite, including C-DSD, can be ordered on a subscription basis from StoreNext dealers.
