Web Sales Double at Lands' End
Lands' End, a direct merchant of casual clothing, reports that Internet sales more than doubled in fiscal 2000, reaching $138 million, compared with $61million in 1999. The Dodgeville, Wisc., company says more than 20% of its Web store shoppers are new to Lands' End.
The company says net sales for its FY 2000, which ended Jan. 28, were $1.32 billion, down 3.8% from the prior year. It attributed the decrease to an 18% reduction in catalog pages mailed, a decision announced last fall. Net income for the year just ended was $48 million, up 54% percent from the $31.2 mllion earned in fiscal 1999.
